“But the leader of a political action committee supporting Winfrey said it would still to try to persuade her to run and continue seeking to recruit 1 million supporters.

Winfrey, 63, stole the show at the Golden Globes awards ceremony earlier this month with a speech against sexual harassment and assault. It sparked an online campaign to lure her into running against Republican U.S. President Donald Trump in the next election cycle.
“It’s not something that interests me,” Winfrey told InStyle. “… I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me.”

Winfrey, long associated with Democratic Party causes and fundraising, could not be reached for immediate comment.”*

I'm sorry, I like Oprah, I'm sure she's a wonderful person, very inspirational. But, haven't we been learning what happens when the Presidency is treated as a "learn-as-you-go" kind of job?Yes, anyone should be able to run for President. But, don't we want someone who has been building the knowledge and skills needed to actually do the job? Being famous should not be the ONLY trait needed to run; that's the exact OPPOSITE of the idea that ANYONE could run for President! Wealth is already a huge barrier to the White House; why can't we set our sights back toward a knowledge and understanding of government? And some people will call that position "elitist", without understanding that only picking candidates off the Forbes 500 list is the very definition of elitism. But why is "qualified" being considered an elitist quality for the Presidency? If it is, we're in way more trouble than anyone can imagine.
